Wow, after the bomb that was Daughters of Dracula, Kailin Gow really redeemed herself with this one! I love this book so much, I stayed up until almost 2 in the morning to finish it! The pacing was wonderful, the story excellent. I loved this dystopian world, especially since that element is so wonderfully subtle at first. Then the paranormal aspect came in, and made things even better. I haven't seen any Paranormal Dystopians before, so this book felt so refreshing and unique. I devoured this book entirely too quickly, and the sequel is not out when it should be :( (apologies for the whining, this book was really that good)
Kama was a wonderful character to follow. As you read her journey, you discover everything with her and feel exactly what she is feeling: Shock, awe, outrage, love, everything. You root for her to succeed and to do the right thing. Liam felt a bit too obsessed with Kama and their relationship, but I still loved him. Other characters such as Kama's mom were vivid and interesting, and the antagonist subtly frightening.
Thank god I read this book, if not I would not have seen how truly an amazing author Ms. Gow is.
