I started out not really liking this book, with the story just meshing with me. But, as it went on, I became so damn invested in it. I also like how there's some self-awareness when it comes to Lysistrata, the play this book is loosely adapted from. That was cheekily done and I loved every time it was brought up, and also how it tied into the plot itself.

I'll admit, for a while I thought Lissa was extremely annoying. I thought she was a selfish, "I am better than thou" control-freak type, which annoyed the hell out of me. But as the book went on, the layers are peeled back and all of that is turned into legitimate, raw and real character development. She became a real character whom I liked a lot. Her best friend Chloe could have easily been turned into one of those stereotypical slutty friend characters who are used to slut shame. I was pleasantly surprised to see her get some great development and depth as well. She had great insight, knew who she was and was comfortable with it. Plus I thought she was hilarious and awesome. Honestly, I think Lissa's boyfriend Randy was an a$$hole, and should have been slapped silly for the things he said and did. Man, he was such a bleeping buttwipe X_X. I thought Cash was so sweet, despite the moments where you're meant to dislike him. He was so sweet and caring and amazing *sigh*.

The writing was pretty damn good. I'll say this, Kody Keplinger knows how to write a book. I loved how she adapted Lysistrata into this great book (this book also makes me want to go see Lysistrata Jones the musical even more). Despite my issues with the book, Ms. Keplinger resolved them with such ease and tenderness. She really tugs at your emotions.
